Blackcurrant seed oil and sea buckthorn oil are kind to skin and fur
Skin health matters for pets too. If the skin is not in good condition, a dog’s or cat’s paw pads can become cracked, the skin can start to itch, and their coat can lose its shine.
Sometimes the reason for cracked paw pads or other ailments is the weather or other conditions, but a diet that does not give your pet enough of the right fatty acids can also make the skin more susceptible to dryness and wear.
To build up a properly protective skin layer, cats and dogs suffering from skin problems such as dryness and itching need both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Berry oils (blackcurrant seed oil, lingonberry seed oil, sea buckthorn oil) are naturally rich in omega fatty acids, and each type of berry has its own characteristic composition of fatty acids.
BERRYOMG® Silk & Shine dietary supplement capsules have been specifically developed to care for the skin of cats and dogs. They help maintain the skin’s natural protective layer, prevent dry skin and help treat itchy skin.
“BERRYOMG® Silk & Shine, which contains blackcurrant seed oil and sea buckthorn oil, contains both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, making it a good dietary supplement for pets suffering from atopic skin, or any degree of skin dryness,” says veterinarian and animal nutrition expert Dr. Johanna Anturaniemi.
Blackcurrant seed oil contains omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, which strengthen the skin’s protective layer and soothe the skin, thereby reducing dryness and itching. The fatty acid composition of the supplement is formulated to reduce hair loss and prevent dandruff and yeast infections.
Sea buckthorn oil contains the rarer omega-7 fatty acid, which is also known to promote skin health and mucous membrane health. Sea buckthorn oil also adds sheen to the fur.
– Parson Russell Terrier Teppo, 7 years old, suffers from dry skin, especially in the winter, when it becomes so dry in the groin area that it cracks. Last autumn, BERRYOMG® Silk & Shine in capsular form was added to Teppo’s diet, and he was free of the skin problem the entire winter.
In addition to essential fatty acids, Silk & Shine contains vitamin E in its natural form, making it as easy as possible for the animal’s body to absorb from the supplement. Vitamin E is a health-promoting antioxidant, and plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin in dogs also. Amongst other negative effects, insufficient vitamin E in a dog’s diet can aggravate the symptoms of atopia and make the skin more susceptible to various types of inflammation. For this reason, it’s essential to ensure to that your dog’s diet is rich enough in vitamin E.
The ingredients Finnish-made BERRYOMG® berry oil preparations have been scientifically proven effective and safe, and help to promote health in cats and dogs of all ages, all year round. When your pet’s skin is healthy, this shows on the outside too – no bothersome itch, plenty of shine!
