Made from lingonberry seed oil, BERRYOMG® OMvEGA-3 is a completely plant-based omega-3 dietary supplement for dogs. Naturally rich in essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, lingonberry seed oil is one of the best plant-based sources of omega-3 and is particularly suitable for dogs and cats that react badly to animal-derived oils.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for dogs, and their addition to the diet is widely recommended. There are three particularly well-known omega-3 fatty acids: the plant-based alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA and DHA are typically found in fish oil. Omega-3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory fatty acids – this is particularly the case with EPA and DHA. Plant-based ALA is the basic material from which an adult dog’s system can produce EPA and DHA fatty acids.

However, many liquid oil preparations, such as fish oil, have a tendency to cause heartburn. All products in the BERRYOMG® range are capsule formulations, which makes them suitable for dogs that are susceptible to heartburn from liquid oil products. Unlike liquid oils, oil given to pets in capsule form has not been shown to cause heartburn. This makes BERRYOMG® dietary supplements a good choice for even the most sensitive dogs.
The omega-3 fatty acid in BERRYOMG® OMvEGA-3 is alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). The product also contains linolenic acid (LA), an omega-6 fatty acid. Linolenic acid and alpha-linolenic acid are essential fatty acids for dogs, as their bodies cannot produce them. BERRYOMG® OMvEGA-3 thus contributes to a balanced diet, especially for allergic dogs and those that are picky about their food.
In addition to fatty acids, lingonberry seed oil naturally contains gamma-tocotrienol, and so this is also contained in OMvEGA-3. Gamma-tocotrienol is a powerful antioxidant related to vitamin E. The use of antioxidants with omega fatty acid supplements is important, because antioxidants protect fatty acids from oxidation and thus protect the dog’s body even at the cellular level.
